La Fonteta as a key factor in the “final” to be in the Copa del Rey vs. Club Joventut Badalona
Valencia Basket plays for its participation in the 2020 Copa del Rey in a direct duel against another team with options to enter the tournament like Club Joventut Badalona (Sunday 12, 17:00h, Fonteta, Movistar Deportes).
The accounts are very simple for a taronja team that depends on itself: if the taronja squad wins will be tomorrow in the tournament and if it loses it will stop playing the Copa del Rey for the third time in the last 23 years.
Valencia Basket reach the first "final" of the season with just 40 hours ofrecovering from a very tough game against Olympiakos (which also ended in defeat), with Mike Tobey sidelined and with its two top scorers Jordan Loyd and Bojan Dubljević doubtful, trying to recover from two ankle sprains and their participation will be a game-time decision.
In this situation, Fonteta has to become the sixth player to contribute extra energy to maintain the good line at home in the Endesa League (where he has not lost in national competition since November 3) and to this rival (who has won in his last ten visits). The taronja team begins this round 17 located on the top since it gives access to the Copa del Rey, the eighth, with a 8-8 balance.
